So, how does M-Tech Laptops compare to Alienware? The answer is ...it doesn't. M-Tech's high end laptops are in a league all its own. Lets take a point by point review of the differences.

VIDEO: The MTECH D9F uses the best gaming graphics card made, the Nvidia 280M. Alienware uses the less powerful 260M unless you want to pay big money to upgrade to the 280M, and get this.

CPU: Alienware uses the slower mobile Dual Core with a groggy 1066MHz Bus Speed. M-Tech uses the new I7 Quad core with the new Smart Cache and a Bus Speed that is an amazing 4.8GT/s or 6.4GT/s (how do you even say that?) The I7 is so advanced there is not even a FSB for us to compare to. The new I7 can intelligently direct its CPU power to a single core or divide out as needed to all four. This directs the immense power of the I7 were it is needed without wasting power on applications that just do not need it. With the smart cache technology our laptop can make more intelligent use of the Level 2 and level 3 cache. The mobile based CPU's cannot do this, in fact they don't even have a level three cache.

Memory: Alienware does at least have DDR3 RAM in Dual channel. What could be better than that you ask? How about DDR3 in Triple Channel memory array. This allows the CPU to access memory three times faster than just a single stick and one third faster than the dual channel system. Funny thing is that Alienware just now is going with Dual Channel DDR3 RAM. M-Tech has been Dual Channel DDR3 so long we consider it old news. Trust us on this, Triple Channel RAM in DDR3 1333MHz is a very big deal. It gives you the most important advantage you can have outside the four drive RAID 0 hard drive array. M-Tech treats this laptop with a lot more respect, To sum up the RAM for the D9F, we use three sticks of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, in the worlds first Triple Channel configuration. This means we take RAM that is twice the speed of normal RAM and then we triple its potential with triple channel RAM effect. This is a very big deal. Alienware should be ashamed for not offering it.

Drives: Alienware only has two internal hard drives in a dual drive RAID 0 configuration.. M-Tech on the other hand allows for four drives in a RAID 0 configuration. Lets not stop there, lets also go with RAID 5 and RAID 1. Pretty amazing you say, well then your going to love this. M-Tech can also offer you combination RAID arrays. This is so unique you have to call M-Tech just to find out what it is and if it is the correct RAID array for you. Don't bother asking anybody else, this is a M-Tech exclusive. We thought it up and only we have it. This means not only do you get four times the storage space but your computers speed is nearly quadrupled because when you increase the speed of the HDD you increase the whole laptops speed. This is an even bigger deal then the triple channel RAM. (And that was a very big deal) There can be no confusion on this, four drives in RAID 0 means the laptop already is faster anything else out there, this extra hard drive throughput allows the new I7 to really sing. Most people don't realize that a CPU cannot approach its full potential because the throughput of the hard drive is a limiting factor. Even if Alienware did use the I7 CPU it would not be of much value to them because they can only offer a two drive RAID 0. When you go with three drives on RAID 0 you then start to reach a throughput that makes he I7 a true powerhouse. Imagine if you went with four drives. You can do that with the D9F. Be warned though, you would need a neck brace. While Alienware focuses on buying laptops that look fast, M-Tech was focusing on laptops that really are fast. It's no wonder we cant get Alienware to authorize any laptop magazines to do a head to head competition. They know they just cant stand up to our D9F's world record breaking power.

WLAN: M-Tech uses the latest and greatest Intel 5300 wireless card while Alienware uses, well we are not sure what they use. It is n draft but they don't tell us the brand. That leaves us to assume it is a generic equivalent.

A sharp looking alternative to the D9F
